Trend Alert!!

Lately I've been noticing this trend everywhere, and I'm totally loving it! Knee socks! They're great for fall and winter because if you live somewhere like me, it gets pretty cold, and that makes it hard to wear dresses in the winter. For me, dressing up is really fun, so i love finding ways to still wear those summer dresses all year. (Plus you can pick up last season's dresses on sale). So i put together a few outfits for some inspiration. I hope you like them! Let me know which is your favorite and if you're also loving the knee sock trend! <3

Outfit 1
For this first one, I went with darker colors, another trend I'm loving in the winter. I paired a basic black long sleeve shirt (Old Navy) with a maroon skater skirt (Rue 21). To bring out the maroon, I added a ruffled maroon scarf (Rue 21). Like I said, where I live it gets cold (today its in the negatives without windchill), so it's important to layer up. I added a pair of sheer black tights (Sears) and then black knee socks (Kohl's) over top. Finally i added my black combat boots (Rue 21) and the outfit was complete!

Outfit 2
For this next outfit, I wanted to be a little more dressy and girly. I paired this adorable polka dot skater skirt (Plato's Closet) with a basic pink tank top (Target). I added a light brown cardigan (American Eagle) for some warmth. The knee socks (Kohl's) look black in this picture, but they are navy like the skirt. I topped off the look with this pink bow wedges (Rue 21).
Outfit 3
This outfit is causal, but still girly. The shirt (Target) I'm wearing says "Chic Geek" and I love it! Once again I'm going with maroon and black. This skater skirt (apparently my favorite thing ha) is floral and is from the new Bethany Mota line at Aeropostle! To go with the maroon shirt, I added these maroon knee socks (Kohl's) and the shoes I wore with this are my black combat boots from outfit one.
Outfit 4
This outfit reminds me of my childhood. This is a floral overall dress (Rue 21). I saw it and had to get it! under it i put a simple mustard long sleeve shirt (Rue 21). The knee socks (Kohl's) i added are off-white and have an almost argyle looking texture to them. I added my brown combat boots (Rue 21) to complete the look.
Outfit 5
This one is very military-esque. I really love the natural vibe it sends off. I found this super cute army green zip up dress at Plato's Closet. It has pockets (I found a quarter in one of them!) which adds cuteness points. I paired it with a slightly different shade of green scarf (same as in outfit one but green). Because the dress is sleeveless, i added this long white cardigan I got on sale at TJ Maxx for $3! For a little pop of color and pattern, I paired it with a pair of argyle knee socks (Target) and my brown combat boots (Rue 21).
Outfit 6
For this last look, I decided to move away from the skirts and dresses. Again i layered a pair of sheer black tights (Sears) under my socks. This time, however, i went with a pair of thigh high black textured socks (Kohl's). Over that, i put a pair of gray shorts (Aeropostle) and a black peplum shirt (Boscov's). It was a bit large, so i added a silver belt around my waist. I'm also wearing my black combat boots once again.

I hope you love all of these looks! If you would let me know your favorite that'd be really cool. I hope to update more frequently this year, so let me know if there's anything you want to see! lots of love! Brittany
